Verified ReviewerResolved: Locked funds
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with full refund. be persistent.
They only closed one of my case number which was a duplicate. The issue is still not resolved.
They have still locked my out of my funds because I will not send in my government ID through email. I told them numerous times I am not comfortable doing that as they've had a data breach prior, and I did not need to provide an ID to get this prepaid card. What would they even compare it to then?
My address and email has not changed so I don't understand why they need "verification" under such invasive methods involving sensitive information. They've offer no other alternatives and will continue to collect dormancy fees until the card drains out.
The company continues to refuse to reissue my funds. I told them I am not comfortable sending in my government ID as they've had a data breach and I DID NOT need to provide ID to get this prepaid card from a class action.
They DID NOT resolve anything through email. They simply closed my case.
I received debit card via a class action and forwarded them email I received card from which should be enough.
I did not need ID to obtain the card. I verified name, address, phone, email already.
Spoke to at least 5 foreign CS reps by phone who give me the run around. First one said it'd take up to 48 hours, didn't receive an update. When I called back 3 days later they told me they were undergoing system updates and to call back in 2 hours.
After 2 hours elapsed, was told by another rep to call back again 2 hours later. I demanded to speak to a supervisor and was put on hold and was disconnected.
In one email of same case number was called by a different name.
And I'm supposed to trust them with government ID? Via email correspondence it takes over 24 hours for a response and each time they request original email proof I got the card from which I had already provided in prior emails.
I want my funds back!
- Holds funds hostage
- Poor customer service and resolution time
Preferred solution: Full refund

Verified ReviewerIt’s been WEEKS of pointless back and forth. STILL no gift cards.
Josh from Black Hawk Network responded to my frustrated review I wrote about his god awful company stating that the BHN reached out to me privately however I want everyone reading this to know that “Josh” is lying. I never received an email from BHN attempting to correct the company’s wrongdoing.
U.S.
Veterans are protected against fraudulent financial services companies like this and it’s just pitiful to treat our country’s military Veterans and their families thusly. The BHN should be ashamed.
It hasn’t
Apparently there are phishing thieves lurking on Black Hawk Networks Giftcards.com website because my Fathers computer was virtually hacked and the 2 virtual Visa gift cards he originally ordered to be sent to my email address as the recipient was fraudulently changed by online thieves to an entirely different and completely unknown email address after his order was placed! How does that even happen?! My Father is old and isnt the most tech savvy individual so he asked me to help facilitate a dispute for his order which unfortunately I have been dealing with this god awful Black Hawk Network company for over 2 miserable weeks. Heres how Black Hawk Network completely FAILS at protecting Americans money: No phone number is ever displayed easily on their websites for help to speak to an actual person to even POSSIBLY get your disputes with the company resolved; One must take an additional step and research on Google what Black Hawk Networks telephone customer service is before you can actually even begin the process of getting your deserved compensation from this company.
THEN, Black Hawk Network throws you into a pitless and ever so endless circle of constant back and forth with its customer service representatives, who are of course outsourced Filipino and Spanish telephone workers (because why would a large company like Black Hawk Network ever decide to hire expensive American workers to do the job-Typical evil conglomerate were dealing with here) who show absolutely no sympathy for any situation brought to their attention, and who also majority of the time run off mundane telephone scripts and do not have the ability to truly grasp the understanding of what it is that youre talking about if you have a slightly more intricate issue than their English communicating skills are not competent enough to properly articulate in order to provide accurate and effective help to you (which is my situation, apparently). As this is the issue with my particular situation, I have been in a *** hole of countless calls to customer service representatives in the dispute department who have absolutely no capability in resolving anything, countless emails from barely understanding customer service representatives and so therefore contain nothing but barely helpful customer service solutions and countless repeated attempts to explain to customer service reps that Ive already submitted the required documents you outlined in your email and it just goes on and on and on and on and Im just about ready to file legal suite because $500 is a lot of money and Ive had it with this god forsaken company. How many times do you need me to submit my ID, along with my selfie holding my ID, along with my receipt and proof of order purchase??? HOW MANY TIMES, BLACK HAWK NETWORK?!?!?
This is RIDICULOUS. My Father is an elderly, 90% disabled MINORITY Vietnam War Veteran, Gulf War Veteran, and U.S.
Marine Corps Retiree; My Father is supposed to be PROTECTED under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) and he has special protection set in place to be PROTECTED against consumer financial purchases by financial services and entities such as this very sad Black Hawk Network company. I will file a lawsuit against this company before the end of next week if our gift cards are not received please mark my words, Black Hawk Network.

Verified ReviewerResolved: Card is declined everywhere
The company responded quickly by email and only needed a bit of information and within a few hours I was given a replacement virtual gift card with the remaining balance. Completely satisfied with the companies resolution.
I was issued a virtual gift card that worked just fine several times. Then all of a sudden, it keeps getting declined everywhere I try to use it.
I get an error saying my card has been declined by the bank and to contact the card's issuer. I have an account, and the virtual gift card is added to my account.
The billing address and other information are correct. I've tried adding it to my PayPal and Google Pay, but it won't let me add it and gives me the same error message.
Preferred solution: My virtual gift card to work or a physical gift card replacement.

Verified ReviewerGIFTCARDS ARE A SCAM
To whom it may concern, my name is Ken Wright, and I live in Maricopa, AZ. I bought a gift card from the Bashas store in Maricopa, and I paid for it ($350.00).
I went home to activate it, and somehow it already showed a balance of $4.25 (from the $350 I just put on). I contacted Bashas, and they said I needed to contact the gift card company. When I did, they told me to contact Blackhawk Network so that I could get reimbursed for the money I didn't spend. They told me that I needed to send in a picture of my license and body pictures, and if I don't within 10 days, then it would be considered resolved and closed.
I asked Blackhawk if there was any way besides me sending in my personal info, and they just blew me off. So be careful of purchasing gift cards from Bashas/Maricopa with the company Blackhawk Network that sells the gift cards.
- Easy to use
- Card can be hacked as i experienced

Verified ReviewerResolved: Stolen card information - inside operation
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with full refund.
I am somewhat happy to report that after BHN asked (on their 3rd email) for a picture with my gov issued state ID and I declined to do so, they wanted to redeem themselves after all. I was refunded the money that was taken from the gift card.
I am sending a big THANK YOU to BHN for that. The reason I am 'somewhat happy' is that I know it didn't fix the problem.
It fixed MY problem but it's unfortunate for the others that it might happen to. Again, I got my money back so I am very grateful and happy - I just wish there was a way to stop the theft.
I was so happy at first because I received an email letting me know they are looking into my case and asked for a particular number off the back of the card. Then a second email came asking for the actual card number and the security code and now a third email came in and they are asking for a picture of me holding my drivers license.
See detailed email below. Is this a thing? I think it's time I forfeit the $132.....________________ "Thank you for contacting the Cardholder Dispute team. When I log in to check the balance, it is shown to have been spent on a PayPal account *VINAYG11423. I'm very sad because that gift card was from my children. I needed all to be aware of this because these cards are not to be trusted.
Not to mention their customer service doesn't even exist for something like this. Just horrible.

Verified ReviewerTerrible customer service. My digital card had no funds
Just keep ringing them
My car was broken into. I sent a police report and was told they would send out a replacement.
After several phone calls, they finally sent it, but it had already been used. So again, I rang them and was told that within 24-48 hours, they would transfer the money to my bank. I waited and nothing happened. After waiting 5 days, still nothing, and I kept being told they have expedited my claim and to wait 24 hours.
Terrible company to deal with. Also, I was always told that I can't speak to a manager.
Preferred solution: Full refund

Verified ReviewerPoor customer service.
Do not trust BHN or use their products, if possible, including Tango cards. I had a class action settlement and received one of their gift cards, which did not work.
They requested a lot of personal identifying information to prove that I was the cardholder, which is fine, but they do not use a secure system for customers to upload such documents as a driver's license and other personal information. And then after they 'revalidated' my card, I couldn't use it. Ironically, it was declined when I tried to buy a Nordstrom gift card, and guess who handles those gift cards - BHN. They denied their own gift card as payment.
Avoid at all cost. They delay, deny, defend even when they are wrong.

Verified ReviewerFailure at Every Level
This is unbelievable. I already submitted a review, but now I have to experience the trauma again by recounting the ordeal.
Last month, my husband's cousin was killed in a tragic car accident. His wife, who has MS, was in the passenger seat and critically injured. She is currently in rehab learning to walk again. Their only child lives abroad and flew home to see his mother and manage all necessary arrangements.
He left his new wife and small child, and his job, to stay in the states as long as needed. During this time, he had to rent a car, eat, and drive back and forth to the hospital, etc. This is what the gift card was for - to offset some of his unexpected expenses. It was not a 'present', but a necessity to assist our family member at the most difficult time in their life!
Here's what happened: In mid-September, I purchased a $150 eVisa gift card from Giftcards.com, as recommended on the Visa website. I was hoping to purchase directly from Visa, but this was not an option available. I went to the Giftcards.com website and purchased a $150 card. I was given the option to upload a photo, so I chose to do so.
However, it was immediately rejected because it didn't meet the specifications. I then resized the photo to meet their specifications and proceeded with another upload. The purchase was made (or so I thought) using PayPal. A little while later I received an email saying '[My Refund of $155.95 USD from Blackhawk Network Holdings, Inc...
is on the way!' - no reason offered. So, I let things settle in my bank account and tried again to purchase the gift card, except this time I used one of the images from their website and wrote a nice message to the recipient. One week later, the electronic gift card was sent to the recipient. The only reason I know this is because I hadn't heard from the recipient so I emailed BHN.
Their response was that it had been sent but there was no message. I spent so much time trying to make this a personal transaction because the options were offered, and it was a complete failure. I contacted the recipient to let them know we had sent the gift card. But, by that time, he had flown back to his home country and hadn't been able to use it.
I am furious with BHN. When I contacted them via email once more, it took an entire month to get an acknowledgement of failure and an apology. They offered to refund my purchase - which meant when the recipient went to use the card it would be rejected. Uh, no.
Then they offered to replace it with a Mastercard. No. The acknowledgement and the apology would have to suffice. BHN added insult to injury, salt to the wound, gasoline to the fire, etc., by promising a supervisor would call me and didn't.
Finally, after one month, I received a phone call providing me with closure to a traumatic ordeal.
If you need to get a gift card to someone, buy and mail it, do not use Giftcards.com. Their photo upload option failed, their personalization via message option failed, their execution (getting the card to the recipient in a timely manner) failed, and their customer service failed repeatedly to resolve my issues.
- No pros
- Failure to include message why transaction was cancelled
- Failure to include personal message with purchase
- Failure to resolve complaints in timely manner

Verified ReviewerRefund never given and miscalculations on card
First issue is a CS1644**** dispute. I have several issues.
First issue is a $100 card. First transaction was for $10.79, and the total after the transaction shows $62.22, which is the incorrect amount. It should have been $89.21 on the card. Then, the next transaction didn't take place.
I was charged several times for the same transactions.
Second issue is an email for a dispute stating I won a dispute for $50.25, but they never sent me any money for this issue. DS0878092

Blackhawk Network sold me an INVALID card. Refuses to correct it.
Hassles and drags their feet until you fold and take their questionable "e-card"... then when you get the "e-card", it's worth less than expected.
Bad customer service isn't this bad.
BHN has to be a criminal enterprise. There's no other explanation.

Verified ReviewerResolved: Unable to use to transfer funds
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. Showing appreciation towards my review.
Unlike many other virtual debit cards, I was unable to use this card on multiple platforms, such as Cash App and my banking institution. I believe adding this functionality would enhance the user experience.
If this feature were available, I would rate it five stars. Overall, it offers good value for money and allows for flexible spending.
- Flexible spending allows spending on various platforms
- Good value offers decent value for money
- Limited usage options not accepted everywhere
- Lacks key features missing functionality found in other cards
- Limited platform use not usable on multiple platforms
User's recommendation: Based on my experience, I recommend considering this card if you're looking for value for money and flexible spending. However, I would advise potential users to check whether it meets their needs for use across multiple platforms, as that functionality is currently limited. If those features are important to you, you might explore other options.

Verified ReviewerResolved: Gift Card Fee Charges
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. The gift card fees that i had been charged were credited back to the gift card.
I was given a gift card that I eventually used all but $35 of. I had forgotten about the gift card and then remembered I had it.
I checked the balance and realized there was a gift card fee.
I inquired about this fee, stating I was unaware of it. They were very understanding, waived the fees and added them back to the card.
User's recommendation: They were great to work with. I would use them again.

I've checked my email and spam and the only email I got from your company was a rep named Maya saying they are closing my duplicate case number. Funny thing is that case number only asked for screenshot of my virtual card and original email I got the card from which I already sent.
Issue still NOT resolved as I'm still locked out of my funds. I'm not sending in my ID for it to be at risk of being mishandled.
